English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructors

UMGC Asia: Non-Credit Adjunct

The Undergraduate School

Location: Yokota Air Base, Japan

Course Payment: $1,000.00

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks employees to teach non-credit ESL classes in Japan.

ESL instructors will be responsible for teaching English Language Learners (ELL) basic literacy skills in speaking, writing, reading and listening.ESL instructors will deliver conversational, professional/business and TOEFL preparation courses to students over various term lengths. They will also assess student learning to provide students feedback on their English literacy skills development. These instructors will also be responsible for basic administrative duties related to monitoring the academic performance of their students.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree conferred from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or equivalent.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in TESOL, ESL, or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning

  • Teaching experience in TESOL, ESL, or related field

  • Experience teaching adult learners in a classroom environment

  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications to include PowerPoint, Word, and Microsoft One Drive
