Job description

Do you have a passion for nurturing young children during their most important years of growth and development? The Hockomock Area YMCA is seeking a caring, energetic, and dedicated Infant/Toddler Teacher to join our Little Hornets Early Learning Center team.

As an Infant/Toddler Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, warm, and engaging environment where children can explore, learn, and thrive. Working closely with families and fellow educators, you will help build a strong foundation for lifelong learning while supporting each child's unique developmental journey.

This is a full-time position that follows the public school calendar and operates approximately 10 months per year.

Essential Functions

  • Create a nurturing, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of infants and toddlers.
  • Provide attentive supervision and responsive care to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and learning experiences that encourage curiosity, exploration, and growth.
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans and maintain daily communication with families regarding their child's activities, milestones, and needs.

  • Support children during enrichment activities, special events, and program-wide initiatives.
  • Observe and document children's developmental progress and complete written assessments and family conferences at least twice annually.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, YMCA events, and childcare family engagement activities.
  • Foster positive behavior and social-emotional development using YMCA and program-approved behavior management practices.
  • Maintain compliance with all YMCA policies, health and safety procedures, and EEC licensing regulations.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive team environment dedicated to providing exceptional care and early childhood education.
