What is a yield manager?

Yield Managers are professionals responsible for maximizing revenue by managing and optimizing the pricing and availability of products or services, commonly in industries like airlines, hospitality, and advertising. They analyze market trends, demand patterns, and competitive data to make informed decisions about pricing strategies and inventory allocation. By using specialized software and analytical tools, Yield Managers aim to sell the right product to the right customer at the right time for the best possible price. Their work plays a crucial role in improving profitability and ensuring business growth.

How does a yield manager typically collaborate with sales and marketing teams to maximize revenue?

Yield Managers work closely with both sales and marketing teams to ensure that pricing strategies align with market demand and organizational goals. They analyze booking patterns, monitor competitor rates, and adjust inventory allocations to optimize occupancy and profitability. Regular meetings are held to share data insights and coordinate promotional campaigns, ensuring that all teams are working together to achieve revenue targets. This collaborative approach helps quickly respond to market changes and capitalize on new opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a yield manager, and why are they important?

To excel as a Yield Manager, you need strong analytical skills, a background in finance, economics, or business, and experience with revenue management principles. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making abilities help you interpret data trends and collaborate with cross-functional teams. These competencies are vital for maximizing revenue, optimizing inventory, and supporting the organization's financial goals in dynamic markets.

Product Owner (Expert Product Manager)

New Moon Production

OR • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 11 days ago

Job description

As Product Owner (Expert Product Manager), you will take full operational, strategic, and commercial ownership (P&L) of our rapidly scaling resource management title launched in 2025.
Originally built by leveraging and evolving a highly successful, market-validated core framework from our franchise portfolio, this title has adapted those proven mechanics into a massive new setting. Having experienced explosive growth over the past year, the project is now on track to transition into its next lifecycle phase as the standalone, premier flagship title of our entire franchise.
To drive this next phase of growth, our game product and execution team is structured into two dedicated execution tracks, each powered by a specialized Product Manager (PM) and a dedicated Project Manager (PJM):
  1. The LiveOps Track: Focused on live events, recurring monetization, and community-driven loops.
  2. The Strategic Roadmap Track: Focused on deep feature development, core game loops, and long-term retention systems.

As the Game GM/PO, you sit on top of these two tracks. You will act as the ultimate strategic orchestrator, functionally aligning and guiding these track-based PM/PJM dyads to translate our high-level franchise strategy into a unified, high-performing product engine.
While the track PMs and PJMs own the day-to-day agile mechanics, scheduling, and sprint planning, you will focus on the high-level roadmap, commercial targets, and team priorities. You will work directly with your track PJMs to ensure roadmap feasibility and drive the overall production engine to meet our aligned fiscal goals.
Note on Team Structure & Matrix Setup: To keep your focus 100% on product direction, strategic vision, and game growth, this role does not have direct HR/line reports, for the time being. Line management for the engineering, art, and design disciplines is handled by our studio discipline heads, and the track PMs report to the Director of LiveOps for their career development. The track-specific PJMs and PMs manage the day-to-day sprint scheduling and tactical execution, leaving you free to drive functional and strategic leadership to hit our P&L targets.
YOUR MISSION
1. Product & Commercial Ownership (P&L)
  • P&L & Forecast Accountability: Take complete ownership of the game's commercial health, driving the production team to meet aligned financial goals.
  • Budget Alignment: Partner directly with the Head of Franchise (HoF) and Director of LiveOps (DoL) to define the annual budget and P&L goals (forecast) that align with our overarching franchise strategy.
  • Performance Tracking: Actively track progress against targets across the fiscal year (FY) and confidently implement course corrections as required to safeguard our commercial trajectory.
  • Team & Tooling Advocacy: Define the team and tooling needs of the game, collaborating closely with the HoF and DoL to secure resources.
2. Strategic Roadmap Design & Track Orchestration
  • Full Roadmap Ownership: Own the long-term product roadmap and prioritize the backlog to balance commercial beats with player engagement.
  • Functional Track Leadership: Set clear strategic goals, guardrails, and commercial frameworks for the LiveOps and Strategic Roadmap tracks, ensuring both pipelines are deeply synchronized.
  • High-Level Feasibility Partnering: Work directly with the track PMs to ensure the high-level roadmap and priorities are well-planned, feasible, and realistic given the team's resources and constraints.
  • Strategic vs. Tactical Boundary: Empower the track PMs and PJMs to fully own their day-to-day sprint execution, scheduling, and agile ceremonies, while you maintain the strategic "what" and "why".
3. Feature Design & Process Optimization
  • Strategic KPI Input: While you do not have direct ownership of detailed feature design (which belongs to our design discipline), you will provide critical input on design goals and target KPIs to ensure all features align with strategic growth.
  • Process Support: Support resource allocation to continuously implement, review, and improve internal team processes alongside the project managers.
  • Key Recruitment Stakeholder: Act as a critical stakeholder and decision-maker in the recruitment process for key project roles.
YOUR BACKSTORY
  • Proven Mobile F2P Track Record: 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Game GM, successfully scaling and running live operations for a notable F2P mobile title (experience in casual, farming, or tycoon genres is a major plus).
  • Strategic & Functional Leadership: Proven experience leading and aligning other PMs and PJMs, coordinating complex multi-track roadmap strategies, and keeping diverse product tracks in sync.
  • Commercial DNA: Strong background in managing product P&Ls, designing forecasts, and executing high-yield monetization/LiveOps strategies.
  • Empowered Collaborator: Exceptional ability to lead and align a large, cross-functional team (~25 people) without needing direct HR reports, relying instead on strong partnership, clear logic, and collaborative influence.
  • Master of Delegation: A leader who understands how to empower PMs and PJMs to run daily sprint mechanics, focusing instead on high-level production milestones, commercial strategy, and team alignment.
  • Analytical Rigor: Deep comfort with data validation, cohort analysis, and transforming player metrics into strategic product decisions.
  • Time Zone Alignment: Located in a time zone within +/- 3 hours of CEST to ensure smooth, real-time collaboration within our remote-first setup.
WHAT WE OFFER
  • The opportunity to pilot the fastest-growing, highest-potential game in our portfolio.
  • A highly autonomous environment where your strategic decisions directly impact the game's P&L and growth.
  • A mature, collaborative studio culture with a dedicated team of 25 world-class craft experts.
  • A competitive compensation package and flexible remote/hybrid working conditions.
