POSITION: Coach 
  
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director  
  
COMPENSATION: $20.00 per hour (26-27 Academic Year)  
SCHEDULE: 4-5 hours/week for 6-8 weeks

We serve the students of Houston, Texas, the 4th largest city across the United States. There are over 20 public-school districts and other great public charter school options  within Houston’s city limits serving our increasing population.  
THE ROLE  
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:  
  • Organizing practices and games  
  • Monitoring the academic progress of student athletes throughout the school year  
  • Include issuing and collecting uniforms  
  • Providing an orientation of a sound program to all student athlete participants  
  • Communicating with coaches and athletic director on the progression of the student athletes and the team  
  • Realizing the athlete is a student first; academics have priority over athletics.  
  • Being on time to all scheduled athletic events.  
  • Practicing with a plan and purpose.  
  • Training each student-athlete to become in the best physical condition as possible.   
  • Putting the team first, and the individual second.   
  • Staying with the team, at all times, until the last student-athlete and their parents/guardians.  
  • Collecting athlete documentation such as physicals and other important paperwork in a designated Athletics Binder in order to remain in compliance with State and YES Prep policies.  
  • Additional duties as assigned.  
      
THE PERSON  
We seek staff with a multitude of backgrounds, talents, interests, and ideas. Certain traits consistently shine through for our most successful employees: passion for the mission, drive for results, care for students, resilience, and humility. Other traits needed and desired for this role are:   
THE MUST HAVES  
  • 0-3 years of coaching experience  
  • Strong knowledge of specific sport including rules, terminology, etc. 
  • Must hold a valid certification for both CPR and AED use from a nationally recognized organization, or attend a district required training to become certified within a given time frame  
THE NICE TO HAVES   
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution  
  • Continued Education in specific sport   
  • Coached specific sport  
  • Experience working with kids
