Are you enthusiastic about hospitality, people, and beautiful places? By working at Yellowstone National Park, you will get all three! As the Carpenter, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day maintenance functions that keep the park running smoothly.

Job Summary:

This Carpenter position is responsible for performing carpentry assessments, maintenance, and repairs on both historic and non-historic structures while ensuring compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and company policies. The role includes accurate documentation of work in the CMMS system, proper tool and equipment management, and maintaining a safe, cooperative work environment. It also requires knowledge of OSHA standards and the ability to estimate and requisition materials effectively.

Position Type: Seasonal
Season Dates: August 2026 - October/November 2026 (Actual season dates vary depending on location) 
Pay: $23.70 - $24.35/hour
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Ensures proper work method and products are used on historic and non-historic structures.
  • Responsible for working safe and complying with all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring all work is performed in compliance with current building codes.
  • Accountable for proper and accurate documentation of labor & materials, into CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), for work performed in accordance with established Company procedures.
  • Performs all assignments as directed- ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost effectiveness.
  • Responsible for job related material estimating and requisition requirements.
  • Must have general knowledge of OSHA requirements
  • Safeguards the care, maintenance and security of all assigned equipment and tools.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and makes sure all proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is being used and used correctly.
  • Maintains a spirit of cooperation within the departments and throughout the property.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge and proper application of various grades and types of wood and other building materials.
  • Must be proficient in the proper use of tools common to the carpentry trade including power tools, including the proper care and maintenance of all tools.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of all building codes and standards.
  • Must possess the interpersonal skills required to efficiently communicate (verbal & written) at all levels.
  • Must be self-motivating, be able to work independently with limited supervision, and be willing to work off-hours when required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years.
  • Must possess carpentry experience.

Physical Requirements include:

  • This position may require the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess physical stamina and condition to withstand heavy labor related work in an outside environment.
  • Standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, for extended periods of time are required.
