Job description

The Prince George's County Parks and Recreation, Youth and Countywide Sports Division (YCSD) is hiring Program Support Staff to assist with the preparation, operation, and breakdown of various sports programs, leagues, clinics, and special events. YCSD develops, organizes, and supports recreational sports programming for youth and adults across the county.

Examples of Important Duties Providing onsite support for multiple sports programs, including registration check-in, distributing schedules, and answering participant questions

Assisting with program setup, including equipment transport, field/court preparation, and signage placement. Supporting game-day and practice operations, including scorekeeping, timekeeping, and basic officiating as needed. Engaging with participants, parents, coaches, and spectators in a positive and professional manner.

Ensuring program areas remain safe, clean, and organized during activities. Assisting with inventory, storage, and maintenance of program equipment.. Completing other duties as assigned to support the success of sports programs and events

Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age or older (Ages 17 and under must have a work permit from high school if hired). Some specialized training and experience in program leadership, supervision, and technical clerical activities are preferred.

NOTE: Associate degree or higher is desirable for program leadership, coordination, and supervision in a program activity situation. Knowledge and Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in varying weather conditions. Basic knowledge of sports rules and operations preferred but not required. Supplemental Information May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

Work Schedule Program Support Staff work a variety of shifts, which may include evenings and weekends, depending on program schedules and events. Supplemental Information Programs are located countywide. These positions are seasonal/part-time and do not include a benefits package.
