What You'll Do
A unique opportunity where you will oversee the daily internal rental operations and management of the yard for a mid-size construction company. The position will oversee the organization, maintenance, and efficient operation of all machinery, tools, and materials within the company's yard. This role will manage equipment inventory, schedule repairs, and ensure all assets are safe, compliant, and ready for use. The role includes supervising yard staff, coordinating equipment movement, optimizing workflow and managing the rentals of equipment to affiliated company. Strong attention to safety, inventory management and logistics is critical for this role.
As our Equipment Rental and Yard Manager, you'll own day-to-day operations of the yard and equipment, including:
Yard Operations & Organization
  • Oversee daily yard activities, ensuring equipment and materials are stored, staged, and dispatched efficiently
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized yard layout
  • Coordinate loading/unloading of trucks and trailers

Fleet & Asset Management
  • Track location, status, and utilization of equipment, attachments, and tools
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance, inspections, and repairs with mechanics and vendors
  • Perform basic equipment checks (fluids, tires, visible damage) before dispatch and upon return
  • Work with the accounting team to ensure billings and assets are accurate
  • Manage fleet and inventory software

Inventory Control
  • Maintain accurate counts of equipment, parts, and consumables
  • Manage check-in/check-out processes for tools and small equipment
  • Assist with purchasing and receiving of parts and materials

Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety policies and PPE requirements in the yard
  • Ensure equipment meets regulatory and inspection standards
  • Conduct regular yard safety walks and address hazards promptly
  • Familiarity with DOT, CAR and other regulations and inspection requirements

Team & Coordination
  • Supervise yard staff, equipment operators, and laborers as needed
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Dispatch, and Field Supervisors to meet project needs
  • Help plan equipment moves and logistics to job sites

Position Requirements
What We're Looking For:
    • 5-10 years proven experience in an equipment yard, construction, rental, or similar environment including 3-5 years in a management or supervisory capacity
    • Strong understanding of heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, skid steers, lifts, trucks, trailers)
    • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to operate equipment safely (forklift, loader, etc.)
    • Computer skills including strong Excel
    • Valid driver's license (CDL a plus)
    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
    • Experience with fleet / asset management software preferred
    • Equipment operator certifications preferred

Schedule/Location:
    • Typical schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM
    • Work Location: In person, Colton, CA

Candidates must have reliable transportation to Colton, CA and will be subject to background, drug screening, and must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
