  • Base Pay $70,000.00 - $72,000.00 / Year

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all yard operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of containers, trailers, chassis, and equipment within the facility. This role manages yard personnel, coordinates with transportation and warehouse teams, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures customer service expectations are met while complying with all safety and regulatory requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesYard Operations Management
  • Oversee daily yard activities, including container, chassis, trailer, and equipment movements.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound container flow to maximize yard utilization and productivity.
  • Ensure trailers and containers are staged correctly to support warehouse and transportation operations.
  • Monitor dwell times and proactively address aging inventory.
  • Maintain yard organization and cleanliness standards.
Team Leadership
  • Supervise yard drivers, spotters, gate personnel, and yard coordinators.
  • Create and manage employee schedules to meet operational demands.
  • Conduct daily shift meetings and communicate operational priorities.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance management for team members.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety policies
  • Conduct regular yard safety inspections and audits.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and equipment damage incidents.
  • Ensure employees use proper PPE and follow established safety procedures.
Inventory & Equipment Control
  • Maintain accurate location tracking of containers, trailers, and chassis.
  • Perform daily inventory audits and cycle counts.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair activities for yard equipment.
  • Monitor chassis, reefer, and trailer status to ensure operational readiness.
  • Ensure damaged equipment is identified and processed appropriately.
Customer Service & Communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for yard-related customer inquiries.
  • Coordinate closely with transportation dispatch, warehouse operations, and customer service teams.
  • Escalate service issues and develop corrective action plans.
  • Support customer KPIs related to turn times, container dwell, and inventory accuracy.
Performance Management

Track and report operational KPIs, including:

  • Yard utilization
  • Container dwell time
