Job description

Yamaha Guitar Group, home to iconic brands like Line 6, Ampeg, Córdoba, and Guild, is at the forefront of innovation and creativity in designing and building equipment for guitarists. We are looking for a Repair Technician to join the team!

Yamaha Guitar Group is a small company, so our ideal candidate is able to work cross-functionally and collaborate to find the best solutions to complex problems. Our company has a unique culture, including game nights, company “jams”, and corporate sustainability and responsibility efforts to constantly improve our impact globally.

This Role will be will be in person based from our distribution center at Union City.

This role will be doing repairs and rework of YGG products that may need service such as amplifiers, effects pedals, speakers and accessories.

Essential Job Description:

  • Inspect returned products to assess condition, functionality, and completeness of included accessories/parts
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or cosmetic issues affecting product performance or appearance
  • Perform repairs, adjustments, and reconditioning to restore products to full working order
  • Test repaired units to confirm they meet quality and functionality standards before reclassification
  • Clean and detail products to remove signs of prior use, shipping damage, or handling wear
  • Source, replace, or repackage missing components, hardware, or accessories as needed
  • Repackage finished units in factory packaging, ensuring correct labeling and documentation
  • Apply appropriate B-Stock classification and tagging in inventory/tracking systems
  • Maintain accurate records of returned items, repairs performed, and final disposition
  • Follow quality control checklists and safety procedures throughout the refurbishment process
  • Flag units that cannot be economically restored to sellable condition for appropriate disposal or salvage
  • Collaborate with quality assurance, warehouse, and sales teams to ensure B-Stock inventory is accurately represented for resale

What you Bring to the table

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Experience with computer software and able to learn new applications.
  • Degree in Engineering or at least 5 years real-world repair experience in the MI industry.
  • An understanding of electronic circuits and theory is a must. Must be able to troubleshoot audio and digital circuits to the component level. Surface mount soldering skills are necessary. Use of technical test equipment, oscilloscope, DVM, distortion analyzer, solder equipment, is a must.
  • Experience playing musical instruments or working in music production a plus
