How much do xbrl jobs pay per hour?
What is an XBRL?
An XBRL job involves working with eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), a standardized format for exchanging business and financial data. Professionals in this field ensure compliance with financial reporting regulations, prepare and validate XBRL filings, and work with accounting or regulatory teams to streamline data submission. Roles may include XBRL specialists, financial analysts, or compliance officers, often requiring knowledge of accounting principles and reporting standards like IFRS or US GAAP.
What does an XBRL specialist do?
As an XBRL specialist, your day-to-day tasks often include preparing and validating financial reports in XBRL format, mapping financial data to appropriate taxonomies, and collaborating with accounting or compliance teams to ensure regulatory accuracy. You'll regularly work with specialized XBRL software to tag data and review filings before submission to regulatory agencies. Problem-solving and troubleshooting are common, as each filing may present unique data challenges or require updated taxonomy elements. The role also involves staying current with evolving standards and regulations, making ongoing learning a key aspect of the job. You’ll frequently interact with finance, IT, and regulatory colleagues, so teamwork and communication are essential.
What skills and qualifications are needed for an XBRL position?
To thrive in an XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) specialist role, you need a solid understanding of financial accounting principles, regulatory reporting frameworks, and strong data management skills, often supported by degrees in accounting, finance, or information systems. Experience with XBRL software platforms, taxonomy creation, and familiarity with SEC reporting standards or similar regulatory environments is highly valuable, as are certifications in financial reporting or data analytics. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication are important soft skills for successful collaboration with finance teams and regulators. These competencies ensure accurate, compliant, and streamlined digital reporting processes in a fast-evolving regulatory landscape.
