Job description

JOB SUMMARY
Seaboard's Corporate Accounting Department is responsible for corporate office financial statements, consolidation reporting, periodic filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), technical guidance consultations, coordination with external auditors, the development and communication of accounting policy and education throughout Seaboard's subsidiaries, enterprise risk assessments, and new technology initiatives. The Corporate Accounting Department also coordinates enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems across Seaboard divisions, as well as leads initiatives in automation and analytics technologies.
Seaboard seeks an Accounting System intern with a basic understanding of information technologies as well as basic accounting and financial principles and terms who is ready for an immersive, real-world experience with automation, analytics, and ERP systems. Under the supervision of Seaboard Corporate Accounting staff, the Accounting Systems Intern can expect to participate in the planning, development, monitoring, and maintenance of our automation technologies and ERP systems. This internship is ideal for the student with a strong interest in both accounting and computer automation and analytics.
To be a strong candidate for this internship, you should possess a positive attitude. You should be collaborative, trustworthy, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with division personnel, other corporate departments, and external auditors.
  • Assist in and learn to use Microsoft SharePoint, Viva Engage, and similar IT tools.
  • Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
  • Become proficient at creating workflows in the Seaboard environment in UiPath, Savant, and other tools.
  • Do minor development of automations and changes to existing automations once up to speed on the development cycle.
  • Test new automations and help users with testing automations.
  • Learn configuration management practices within the Seaboard automation environment and be able to move approved processes into the production environment.
  • Review automations run each day. Look for errors and failures and perform top level troubleshooting.
  • Write documentation for how automations are used, configured, etc.
  • Learn to perform business analysis to document the "human process" and proposed "robot process" for automation requests.
  • Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and office operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting OR Computer Science/Information Systems/Data Science.
  • Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
  • Satisfactory completion of introductory computer science, information systems, or data science courses.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is a must.
  • Experience with other Microsoft tools such as SharePoint, Yammer, Teams, Visio, Power BI is desirable.
  • Experience with automation tools such as UiPath, Alteryx, Savant, or Power Automate is desirable.
  • Experience with any AI coding tools is desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
  • Motivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible.
  • Commitment: 8-12 months.

  • Highly organized, creative and detail oriented are very important.
  • Should be curious with a positive attitude and able to work independently and in a group environment.
