Job description

A structured Assistant Food & Beverage Manager role is critical to the success of the River Cree Resort & Casino. The primary purpose of the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager is to assist the Beverage Manager in all details of the River Cree Resort & Casino F&B operations.

Reporting to the Beverage Manager, the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager will be responsible for the daily operations of the F&B Department within the Casino. May assist in duties including ordering inventory, inventory controls budgeting, and cash floats within each beverage location. He/she will provide direct guest, staff and management interface with regards to River Cree Resort & Casino F&B operations. The supervisor is responsible to work directly with the associates using a hands-on approach to management. Determine if any, appropriate situations to escalate further in the department.


  • Actively promotes an environment conducive to high quality customer service and employee relations by being a positive leadership example.
  • Responsible for scheduling, payroll, disciplinary actions, training and mentoring for staff of the F&B Department.
  • Complete opening day and closing night procedures.
  • Access and input minimal information into CASS.
  • Ensure associates are ready for their shifts and are following policies on absenteeism and appearance standards. Document any discrepancies or violations of the standards and policies for the Managerโ€™s review.
  • Perform daily stand-ups and communicate the next day events to the following Shift Supervisor.
  • Working with Marketing & Advertising to promote River Creeโ€™s Beverage Outlets.
  • Creating, manage and implement Beverage departmental policies & procedure.
  • Understand security requirements.
  • Ensure maintenance of safety and sanitation standards and policies.
  • Provide overall direction, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of operations.
  • Understand basic asset management.
  • Budgetary, projections, and cost control skills to be applied to the daily operations of the F&B Department as outlined by the Restaurant Manager.
  • Assist with ongoing events.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • To look out for the safety of yourself, co-workers and to follow all Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
  • Use a "hands-on" approach to management.

 


  • 3-4 years experience in the Food & Beverage Industry
  • 1-2 years demonstrated experience in management within the Food & Beverage or Nightclub Industry
  • Experience in a casino setting preferred.
  • AGLC โ€“ Proserve/Protect preferred
  • Post secondary education in a related field preferred but not required.
  • Training in management and employee development preferred but not required.
  • Continuous training and education to keep abreast of changes in the industry and external environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a rapidly changing business environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Extensive food & beverage knowledge and ability to develop and apply practices, procedures, and principles in a casino environment.
  • Developed writing skills sufficient to prepare written materials involving detailed descriptions and explanations requiring the accurate use of specialized terminology.
  • Self-planning skills enough to schedule, organize, and carry out work assignments according to established work plans, adjusting work schedules according to changing priorities.
  • Developed judgment and problem-solving skills sufficient to interpret and/or analyze factual and conceptual information with the ability to adapt general procedures or approaches when formulating responses to problems.
  • Manages workload independently and works well in teams.
  • Develops security and systems knowledge through on the job experience.
  • Must display leadership skills, the ability to multi-task and adjust to multiple jurisdictions.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.

The Schedule for this position may vary and would require the ability to work shift work, late nights, weekends and holidays.
