Job description

Overview
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Write and edit technically oriented documentation for the Component Test & Analysis
Division (ECL) of the Environmental & Component Test Directorate (ECTD), Redstone Test Center (RTC).
• Apply knowledge of test procedures, military standards (MIL-STDs), military
specifications (MIL- SPECs), military performance specifications (MIL-PRFs), etc. as well as aerospace and other relevant standards in order to produce technically oriented documentation that meets technical writing principles, and Army Test & Evaluation Command (ATEC) and Redstone Test Center (RTC) standards
• Plan, develop, organize, write, and edit work instructions/procedures; participate in
audits of Component Test & Analysis Division (ECL) operations, and otherwise assist engineers in capturing ECL's detailed procedures for operations
• Assist in writing test plans, test reports, requirements, and supporting documents to
communicate complex, technical information
• Verify completeness of test data
• Compile test data, information, and results into test reports
• Collaborate with and assist teams of engineers and technicians in product and documentation requirements by quickly grasping complex technical concepts and translating them into readily understandable narrative and illustrations.
• Assist material failure/material analysis engineers and technicians in producing Quality Deficiency Report (QDR) documentation
Experience, Education, and Licensure:
• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or related disciplines from an accredited college or university
• Two to five years' experience in technical writing
Preferred Education and Experience:
• Weapon system test and evaluation experience
• Experience routinely interacting with engineers (other than in the computer software
realm)
• Quality control or quality assurance experience
• Mechanical engineering education

Physical Requirements:

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret
clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.
Additional Qualifying Factors:
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.
