Job Summary
The Workship - Writing Center Tutor position in Instructional Support Services is responsible for tutoring Troy University students in writing improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Must be a current Troy University student enrolled at least half-time.
2. GPA of 3.0 or higher
3. Completion of English 1101/1102 or 1103/1104, earning at least a B in each course
4. One recommendation from English faculty
5. Good interpersonal communication skills
6. Commitment to the goals and objectives of the Writing Center
7. Excellent writing skills as evidenced in application essay
8. Willingness to help actively promote Learning Center services, events, and activities.
Please note: Student positions are FICA/Medicare exempt only if students are enrolled in classes in the semester work is performed. To qualify for the FICA/Medicare exemption, you must be enrolled on a half-time basis for the Fall, Spring, or Summer.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Knowledge of APA Style, MLA Style, and/or other writing formats to help students avoid plagiarism issues
2. Online and in-person tutoring experience
