While a wrench is primarily a tool used by mechanics, the term "Wrench" can also refer to a job title in some contexts. A mechanic is a professional who repairs and maintains machinery or vehicles, often requiring certifications and specialized training. The main difference is that a wrench is a tool, whereas a mechanic is a skilled worker who uses tools like wrenches to perform repairs.

What are wrenches and what are they used for?

A wrench is a hand tool used to provide grip and mechanical advantage in applying torque to turn objects—usually rotary fasteners, such as nuts and bolts. Wrenches come in various types and sizes, including adjustable, socket, open-end, and box-end wrenches, each designed for specific tasks. They are essential in automotive repair, plumbing, construction, and many other mechanical jobs where tightening or loosening fasteners is required. Using the appropriate type and size of wrench helps prevent damage to the fastener and ensures a secure fit.
