Job description

Opportunity:
Propel Schools is seeking a Head Middle School Boys Basketball Coach for the 26-27 season starting this Winter:
  • Propel Braddock Hills Middle School
  • Propel East
  • Propel Hazelwood
  • Propel Homestead
  • Propel McKeesport
  • Propel Montour Middle School
  • Propel Northside
  • Propel Pitcairn

Successful candidates will have:
  • Prior Middle School, Varsity and/or Junior Varsity Basketball coaching experience
  • Preferred candidates will have experience as a head coach, playing experience, as well as the demonstrated ability to build a successful program starting at the middle school level
  • Responsibility for assembling his/her coaching staff
  • Experience coordinating a middle school basketball program with the coaching team and/or athletic director
  • Experience implementing off-season programs in accordance with WPIAL/PIAA regulations.
  • Willingness and ability to attend all required PIAA preseason coaching meetings and mandatory coaching certification/trainings in compliance with PIAA regulations.
  • High level of personal organization and planning
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development

Season Information:
  • The 2026-2027 Middle School Boys Basketball season is scheduled to begin on January 4th, 2027 and is anticipated to conclude in March, although the season may end earlier/later depending on if the team participates in postseason.
  • This position includes a seasonal stipend of $1,750. Please note that the stipend will be prorated for coaches who begin after the official start of the season.

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Act 114 FBI Clearance
  • Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training
