Job description

Position Overview
The Varsity Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for the overall leadership, development, and management of the boys' varsity basketball program. This includes coaching, program planning, and supporting the academic, personal, and athletic growth of student-athletes. The coach will work collaboratively with the Athletic Director and other members of the athletics department to ensure alignment with school goals and policies.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the varsity boys basketball program
  • Develop and implement effective training, conditioning, and skill development programs
  • Prepare student-athletes for practices and competitive events
  • Promote high standards of conduct, accountability, and team culture
  • Ensure compliance with all school, league, and governing body regulations (including WPIAL and PIAA)
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director, coaches, faculty, and staff to support departmental goals
  • Monitor and support the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes
  • Assist in program evaluation, development, and long-term planning
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, and the school community

Qualifications
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school, middle school, collegiate, or club level preferred
  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship
