Job description

As the Freshman Football Coach, you will be responsible for assisting with the development of student-athletes through instruction, practice, competition, and mentorship. You will work collaboratively with the varsity coaching staff to support the overall goals and philosophy of the Central York Football Program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Function within the philosophy and objectives developed by the District's interscholastic athletic programs as well as within guidelines available in the Co-Curricular Manual and in building manuals.
  • Enhance coaching skills through subscription to professional journals, membership in professional associations and attendance at clinics.
  • Administer emergency treatment of injuries in the absence of a trainer, physician or other person more qualified than him/herself.
  • Project a positive model for student-athletes, the general student body, and the community at large through appearance, positive attitude, enthusiastic personality, emotional maturity, self-control, leadership, planning, preparation, and good sportsmanship.
  • Teach each athlete skills necessary for the appropriate position in the sport, using proven and up-to-date coaching techniques.
  • Maintain total loyalty, support of, and communication with the head coach and program while assisting the former in physical, mental and skills preparation of the student-athletes.
  • Apply disciplinary procedures fairly and in concert with those of the head coach, school and District.
  • Effectively utilize practice time allotted by the head coach in the prescribed manner to further individual and team performance.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or assigned principal.
