Position Summary:
The Moon Area School District is seeking a highly motivated and organized Part-Time Assistant Athletic Director to assist in the daily administration and operation of the District's interscholastic athletic program. This is a position for the 20262027 school year and is intended to provide administrative support to the Athletic Director while helping ensure all athletic programs operate in compliance with PIAA, WPIAL, NFHS, and Moon Area School District policies and procedures. The position requires daytime, evening and weekend availability throughout the school year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Athletic Director with the daily administration of the District's interscholastic athletic program.
- Support the planning, organization, and supervision of athletic contests, tournaments, and special events.
- Serve as the administrative representative at home athletic events as assigned.
- Assist with supervision of student-athletes, coaches, game personnel, officials, spectators, and facility operations during contests.
- Ensure athletic events are conducted in a safe, organized, and sportsmanlike manner.
- Assist with enforcement of PIAA, WPIAL, NFHS, and District rules, regulations, and policies.
- Support eligibility verification and maintenance of required athletic records.
- Assist with scheduling contests, officials, transportation, game workers, security, and facility usage.
- Coordinate event logistics including field and gym setup, scoreboard operations, public address, ticketing, and event staffing.
- Assist with emergency action planning and respond appropriately during emergencies or injuries.
- Work collaboratively with athletic trainers regarding injury management and game-day medical coverage.
- Assist with inventory, distribution, and accountability of athletic equipment and uniforms.
- Support coach onboarding, certifications, clearances, and required documentation.
- Monitor coach compliance with required PIAA, NFHS, and District certifications.
- Assist with student-athlete awards programs, recognition events, banquets, and postseason activities.
- Help coordinate special athletic ceremonies.
- Assist with communication to coaches, parents, officials, and visiting schools.
- Assist with maintaining athletic department websites, social media, and communication platforms as assigned.
- Help prepare reports and documentation required by the PIAA, WPIAL, District administration, and School Board.
- Promote positive sportsmanship and serve as a professional representative of the Moon Area School District.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.Â
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Knowledge of PIAA, WPIAL, and NFHS rules and regulations.
- Experience working in interscholastic athletics as a coach, administrator, teacher, or related position.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively supervise athletic events and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as required by the athletic calendar.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required Pennsylvania employment clearances.Â
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in education, Sports Administration, Athletic Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience as an Athletic Director or Assistant Athletic Director.
- Athletic training experience or certification.
- Experience serving as a game manager or event administrator.
- Experience with Arbiter, LeagueMinder, scheduling software, or similar athletic management systems.
- Registered Athletic Administrator (RAA), Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA), or willingness to pursue NIAAA certification.
- Experience supervising coaches, officials, volunteers, or athletic event personnel.
- Knowledge of risk management, emergency planning, and athletic event operations.
- Strong public relations and conflict resolution skills.Â
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during athletic events.
- Ability to lift and carry athletic equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to travel between District athletic facilities.Â
Work Schedule:
- Part-time assignment.
- Flexible part-time schedule requiring availability during daytime hours, evenings, and occasional weekends based on athletic department needs and event schedules.
- Position is for the 20262027 school year.Â
Compensation:
- Board-approved for the 20262027 school year.
- No additional employee benefits are associated with this assignment unless otherwise provided by District policy or applicable agreement.
