Job description

Teachers First is seeking Full time and Part Time Paraprofessionals for The Gaming and Technology Academy of Saginaw! The Gaming and Technology Academy of Saginaw (GATA) is seeking innovative, passionate educators who want to help build something different from the ground up. GATA is designed to be a highly engaging school where academics, technology, creativity, competition, and real-world learning come together through gamified systems, hands-on experiences, and strong relationships to prepare students for the future. Positions are being filled on a rolling basis. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply early.NATURE OF THE POSITION: This is a federally funded position and is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding. This position is responsible for providing aid to instructional staff in meeting the objectives of the instructional program.  Must have school experience.QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet at least one of the following:1. At least two (2) years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (minimum of 60 credit hours)2. An associate degree (or higher)3. Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment:a. Knowledge of and the ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; orb. Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics as appropriate.4. Passing scores of the MTTC:a. Basic Skills; orb. Professional Readiness5. Passing ETS Parapro assessment with passing score of 4606. Passing WorkKeys testRESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring.Provide instructional support services under the supervision of teacher.Provide monitoring services during testing sessions.Assist with the Title 1 program: complete necessary paperwork for the Title 1 program.Prepare the classroom for subsequent instruction.Supervise pupils in learning center activities: computer lab, library, or media, etc.Read to children, listen to children read, explain assignments to children, etc.Respond to all levels of supervision.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Satisfactory criminal background check.NON-CRITICAL COMPONENTS:1. Assemble materials, equipment and supplies for teacher and student use and store items after use.2. Assist with bulletin boards, and decorations for special events for instructional purposes.3. Provide special pupil assistance (i.e., drills with flash cares, learning games)4. Attend in-service and/or staff development sessions as requested by the school principal.5. Perform other duties as assigned.
