What is a Manufacturing Manager?

The Manufacturing Manager leads manufacturing and maintenance functions to ensure production schedules, quality standards and cost objectives are met while maintaining product specifications and exceeding customer expectations.

 

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a college degree in engineering, business administration or manufacturing with at least seven years’ experience at a management level position in engineering, manufacturing industry or equivalent.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the safety and security of employees, customers and property.
2. Lead Production Supervisor team to provide machining, fabrication, assembly, shipping/receiving and material handling.
3. Lead Maintenance Department to ensure reliability of equipment and uptime, additionally progress preventative maintenance initiatives
4. Manage human resource activities within the area of accountability, to include staffing, performance management, salary administration, and other related activities.
5. Monitor the forecast of production capacity to ensure effective utilization of all resources.
6. Direct material requirement activities in support of production goals and business objectives.
7. Coordinate with other departments to ensure that all specifications, materials and other issues are resolved to avoid product and production delays.
8. Support & implement continuous improvement actions to improve product velocity through the plant.
9. Investigation and procurement of capital expenditures.
10. Participate in strategic and tactical management planning.
11. Plan, and recommend for approval, budgets for the areas of accountability.
12. Manage expenditures and reports on budget variances and take action, as appropriate, to correct variances.
13. Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
14. Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
15. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
16. Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
17. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Education

  • College degree in engineering, business administration or manufacturing preferred. • Seven years experience at a management level position in engineering, manufacturing industry or equivalent. Experience should include such things as engineering, quality control, manufacturing/industrial engineering and industrial/process manufacturing. • Extensive knowledge and use of departmental and Company policies, procedures, standards, and rules; ability to interpret policies and practices in unusual situations and make recommendations for change. • Ability to solve complex technical, business and human relations problems and propose balanced solutions in support of business and employee needs. • Ability to effectively manage projects of a lengthy, on-going, complex nature. • Ability to provide vision and leadership in a critical area of Company business. • Proven leadership and coaching of employees to maximize potential of individuals and teams. • Successful passing of a routine motor vehicle report. • Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.

Physical and Technical Environment

  • Minimal lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally using proper lifting techniques or other available resources such as lifting or moving equipment or help from another employee. • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment. • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. • Clean and orderly manufacturing environment, some exposure to safety hazards.
