Assignment Summary

As a Seasonal Benefit Counselor, you will be assigned to support Benefit Harbor's Open Enrollment operations by assisting employees with their benefit elections through multiple communication channels, including phone, live chat, and SMS text messaging.

During this temporary assignment, you will educate employees on available benefit options, assist with benefit enrollments, answer questions regarding plan offerings, and provide exceptional customer service while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Successful temporary workers demonstrate professionalism, excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Assignment Responsibilities

Temporary workers assigned to this assignment may be responsible for duties including, but not limited to:

  • Answer inbound phone calls in a professional and timely manner.
  • Respond to customer inquiries through live chat and SMS messaging.
  • Manage multiple chat conversations simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Assist employees with benefit enrollments during Annual Enrollment, New Hire enrollments, newly eligible enrollments, qualifying life events, and rehire enrollments.
  • Explain benefit plan options, eligibility requirements, enrollment procedures, and general benefits information.
  • Enter enrollment information accurately into the Benefit Harbor benefits administration platform.
  • Verify dependent information and enrollment elections for accuracy.
  • Respond to questions regarding benefit plans, enrollment status, and eligibility.
  • Direct employees to the appropriate insurance carrier or vendor for claim-related questions.
  • Help employees make informed benefit decisions by providing clear, accurate, and unbiased information.
  • Conduct outbound follow-up calls, chats, or text messages when necessary to complete enrollments or resolve outstanding issues.
  • Participate in outbound communication campaigns during Open Enrollment.
  • Meet quality assurance, productivity, attendance, and customer service expectations.
  • Notify leadership of system issues, unusual call volume, or customer concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with Team Leads, Supervisors, and fellow team members to support client service goals.

Assignment Schedule

This is a full-time seasonal assignment.

Tentative Schedule

Schedules are as follows: 8am - 5 pm, 9 am - 6 pm and 10 am - 7 pm 

  • To ensure fairness one scheduled late shift each week from 10 am - 7 pm will be required from each worker, unless alternative arrangement has been set with assignment manager.

Schedules may be adjusted during the Open Enrollment season based on operational requirements.

Work Environment

This assignment is performed in a professional office environment using computers, telephones, headsets, and multi-channel customer communication software supporting phone, live chat, and SMS interactions.

Physical Requirements

Temporary workers should be able to:

  • Sit for extended periods.
  • Frequently use a computer and keyboard.
  • Communicate effectively by phone and electronically.
  • View computer monitors for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift office materials weighing up to 15 pounds.

This assignment is anticipated to continue through December 31, 2026; however, the duration may change based on business needs, client requirements, performance, or operational considerations.
