Peraton is seeking an experienced Senior Automation Workstream Deputy to help lead one of the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) most significant modernization initiatives supporting the National Airspace System (NAS). Working alongside the Automation Workstream Manager, you will oversee the operational, technical, financial, and workforce execution of a large-scale portfolio delivering mission-critical automation capabilities that enhance the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the nation's aviation infrastructure.
This position is ideal for a leader who combines technical depth, operational excellence, business acumen, and the ability to lead large organizations in highly regulated federal environments.

Your Impact:
This director-level leadership role is responsible for translating strategic objectives into successful operational execution while ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction, technical excellence, workforce performance, financial stewardship, and program growth. You will lead cross-functional workstreams, partner directly with Peraton and FAA leadership, and drive successful delivery across multiple complex modernization initiatives.
Strategic Program Leadership
  • Serve as Deputy to the Automation Workstream Lead, providing leadership across all operational and technical aspects of the workstream.
  • Lead execution of multiple FAA enterprise modernization initiatives.
  • Translate strategic program objectives into executable operational plans.
  • Oversee end-to-end execution of engineering, software, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, software testing and systems integration activities.
  • Ensure successful delivery of all contractual requirements while maintaining cost, schedule, quality, and performance objectives.
  • Act on behalf of the Workstream Lead as required.

Operational Leadership
  • Lead day-to-day operations supporting a workforce of 150+ engineers, project managers, software developers, architects, cybersecurity professionals, testers, analysts, and operational staff.
  • Partner with functional managers to optimize resource allocation across multiple programs and priorities.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional planning efforts.

Technical Program Execution
  • Direct execution of large, complex engineering and technology initiatives from planning through deployment and operational transition.
  • Manage scope, schedule, technical baselines, dependencies, and integration activities across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Support systems engineering, software development, infrastructure modernization, cloud adoption, automation, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness.
  • Lead technical reviews, milestone assessments, operational readiness reviews, and executive decision forums.

Financial & Business Management (P&L Responsibility)
  • Assist the Workstream Lead with Profit and Loss (P&L) management for a multi-million-dollar portfolio, ensuring financial performance aligns with business objectives.
  • Support development and execution of annual operating plans, budgets, labor forecasts, indirect planning, and revenue projections.
  • Monitor program financial health, including revenue, margin, labor utilization, backlog, burn rates, and cost performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability through operational efficiencies, workforce optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Contracts, Finance, Program Controls, and Business Operations to manage budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
  • Support business growth through proposal development, capture activities, staffing strategies, and transition planning.

Customer Engagement
  • Develop trusted relationships with FAA leaders, Peraton executives, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead executive program reviews, customer briefings, milestone reviews, and operational governance meetings.
  • Ensure customer priorities remain aligned with program execution.
  • Represent Peraton during executive-level meetings and strategic planning sessions.

Risk, Compliance & Governance
  • Lead enterprise risk management activities across operational, technical, financial, and schedule performance.
  • Drive quality assurance, operational governance, and continuous service improvement.
  • Resolve complex technical, organizational, staffing, and customer issues.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • 18 years of experience leading large technical organizations supporting complex federal IT or engineering programs.
  • Experience managing large federal IT programs of 150+ personnel.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-scale IT programs across multiple technical disciplines, including software, cloud, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, systems engineering, and systems integration.
  • Experience managing Profit and Loss (P&L) for large federal programs, including budget planning, revenue forecasting, labor management, cost control, revenue, margin performance, and financial reporting.
  • Proven success managing and delivering federal IT programs with annual budgets exceeding $100M+.
  • Strong understanding of IT Service Management, Systems Engineering, and enterprise IT program management.
  • Experience managing scope, schedule, cost, technical performance, and organizational risk.
  • Strong executive communication and customer engagement skills.
  • Experience briefing executive leadership and government customers.
  • Ability to lead geographically dispersed, cross-functional programs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience supporting FAA modernization initiatives, NextGen, or NAS programs.
  • PMP certification.
  • ITIL Managing Professional certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Experience leading organizations through organizational change and business transformation.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM), financial forecasting, and portfolio management.

Target Salary Range
$229,000 - $366,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
