Job description

About the Role
We're a fast-growing, Series A/B EdTech platform helping tens of millions of students around the world learn smarter through AI-powered tools and peer-generated content. Our Finance team is looking for a motivated Working Student in Finance to work directly alongside senior leadership, contribute to core financial processes, and help build the intelligent, AI-enhanced workflows that will power our financial backbone.
This is a high-ownership role - you won't just be a pair of hands. You'll take real responsibility, interact cross-functionally, and have a direct impact from day one.
What You'll Do
  • Work directly alongside the Director of Finance & People to support day-to-day operations and keep cross-functional topics moving.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and coordinate with external auditors.
  • Help ensure smooth and accurate financial reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist with operational controlling tasks - prepare monthly reports, maintain trackers, and handle ad hoc data pulls and analyses.
  • Identify and pilot opportunities to automate manual finance workflows using AI tools, low-code platforms, and smart integrations.
  • Support coordination with tax advisors, auditors, and legal providers.
  • Act as a bridge between Finance & People and wider teams such as Growth and Engineering.
  • Contribute to building intelligent dashboards and KPI trackers that lay the foundation for a digital finance backbone.
What We're Looking For
Required:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Available for approximately 20 hours per week; ideal commitment of 6-12 months.
  • Strong analytical skills and solid Microsoft Excel proficiency (formulas, pivot tables, financial data analysis).
  • Fluency in German (written and spoken) is required; English proficiency is a strong plus.
  • Eligible to work without visa sponsorship.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and pragmatic mindset with a builder mentality and enthusiasm for working closely with leadership.

Nice to Have:
  • Prior internship or working student experience in finance, consulting, or a high-growth startup.
  • Comfortable using AI tools daily and eager to automate workflows; familiarity with low-code platforms is a bonus.
  • Basic understanding of German accounting practices; curiosity about IFRS is welcome.
Location
This is an on-site role based in San Francisco, CA, United States. Candidates must be able to work on-site and accommodate their university schedule accordingly. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Compensation & Details
  • Part-time working student position (~20 hours/week).
  • Ideal contract length: 6-12 months.
  • Compensation details to be discussed during the interview process.
