Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Coordinator of Grants, Social Media, and Economic Development is a key member of the Town’s leadership team. Reporting to the Town Manager, this position is responsible for promoting Newport as a dynamic community and business destination, overseeing all official Town social media communications, securing and managing grant funding across departments, and leading collaborative projects that support economic and community development. The Coordinator works closely with all Town departments to implement cross-functional initiatives and drive strategic outcomes that enhance Newport’s vitality and growth.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Serve as a department head and collaborate with all Town departments to coordinate and manage cross-departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Develop and manage the Town of Newport’s official social media presence. Create and schedule content, maintain consistent branding, respond to inquiries, and track performance analytics to support public engagement and transparency.
  • Research, write, and manage grant applications for various Town priorities including infrastructure, workforce development, recreation, safety, and community programming.
  • Oversee all aspects of grant administration, including compliance monitoring, reporting, coordination with departments, and performance tracking.
  • Lead project management efforts for Town-wide economic and community development projects. Develop project timelines, coordinate stakeholders, track budgets, and report on outcomes.
  • Promote Newport as a business-friendly community through marketing strategies, digital campaigns, and in-person outreach to attract, retain, and expand businesses.
