Workforce Development Team  •  Reports to Director of Workforce Development  •  Level 4
Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Career Navigator to join our Workforce Development team at the Opportunity Hub in Dover, Delaware. In this pivotal role, you’ll guide job seekers, career advancers, and individuals from diverse backgrounds — including those with disabilities and other vulnerable populations — toward meaningful employment and long-term career success. Through individualized career plans, hands-on coaching, and wrap-around support, you’ll help people navigate the job market and change the trajectory of their lives. What You’ll Do
  • Conduct career interest, aptitude, and exploration assessments; provide individualized career counseling and exploration services.
  • Develop personalized career pathway plans that connect individuals to wrap-around services including education, healthcare, financial assistance, skills training, and employment opportunities.
  • Assist individuals with job applications, resume development, interviewing skills, and job search strategies.
  • Deliver essential skills training including soft skills, professional communication and etiquette, and digital literacy to support job readiness and career advancement.
  • Provide digital skills training to enhance participants’ proficiency in using technology for job search and career exploration.
  • Facilitate study groups, practice labs, and workshops both in-person and virtually; proctor exams and moderate self-paced learning modules on site.
  • Cultivate relationships with employers to identify job opportunities and educate employers and partners about Goodwill’s mission and workforce development initiatives.
  • Stay current on labor market trends, employment opportunities, and career development resources to inform services and programming.
  • Promote Workforce Development services by attending community events, hosting orientations, and presenting to small and large groups.
  • Support employment retention through ongoing career counseling and follow-up services.
  • Enter data into the CaseWorthy case management system and systems required by specific contracts with accuracy and integrity; maintain detailed case files and documentation to track individual progress and outcomes.
  • Assist with program evaluation, reporting, and accountability to achieve quality program outcomes.
  • Maintain Opportunity Hub hardware inventory and report equipment issues.
  • Assist the organization in maintaining compliance with applicable standards and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive client and program information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
  • At least two years of experience in human services, workforce development, human resources, training/instruction, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant certifications a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct career assessments and develop personalized career plans.
  • Strong understanding of labor market trends, employment opportunities, and career development resources.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with barriers to employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging in-person and virtual workshops, trainings, and presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or comparable programs; comfortable using case management platforms such as CaseWorthy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Highly organized with strong time-management skills and attention to detail; able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends and travel as needed.
