If you are interested in being a part of a growing, entrepreneurial spirited organization, we’d love to hear from you!About the PositionWe’re seeking an experienced and results-driven Associate Vice President, Claims – Workers Compensation to provide oversight, administration, and successful management of multiple Third Party Administrators (TPAs) handling workers’ compensation claims on behalf of NIP clientele.This role is critical to ensuring best-in-class claim outcomes through strong technical direction, quality assurance, TPA oversight, and strategic collaboration across internal partners and external stakeholders. You’ll help drive best practices that reduce the total cost of claim while delivering exceptional client service.This position reports to the VP, Claims – Public Entity and requires minimal travel.What You’ll DoAssist in directing the workers’ compensation claims management process, ensuring execution of best practices to reduce total claim costs while maintaining high client service standards. Provide technical direction to TPA workers’ compensation adjusters on significant claims, complex compensability issues, and occasional coverage matters. Manage quality assurance programs to evaluate TPAs and defense panels for adherence to claims handling standards. Ensure case reserves align with NIP operational guidelines and reserve philosophy. Directly oversee TPA activities on workers’ compensation claims and ensure claim handling consistency across programs. Analyze claims results relative to established objectives; report key findings and recommend remedial actions where necessary. Participate with TPA leadership in evaluating panel counsel performance; recommend additions or removals of counsel when appropriate. Provide technical support to internal business partners, including underwriting and loss prevention teams. Build strong relationships with excess carriers to ensure timely reporting, appropriate claim escalation, and authorization within excess layers. Develop and deliver presentations for internal and external audiences on individual claims, New Jersey workers’ compensation law updates, claim practices, and industry trends. What We’re Looking ForEducation & CredentialsBachelor’s degree required, or equivalent relevant work experience. Experience7+ years of claim management experience. 10+ years of administering Workers’ Compensation claims for an insurance carrier, TPA, or risk management provider. Experience with various workers’ compensation claim systems strongly preferred. Skills & CompetenciesAdvanced knowledge of state workers’ compensation claims systems and applicable statutes, including cost containment mechanisms. Strong understanding of insurance contracts and adjusting practices; familiarity with medical terminology, legal procedures, and claim evaluation. Ability to make sound decisions, including in situations with limited information. Strong planning, organizational, and time management capabilities. Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively across teams and leadership levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). What You'll Receive
