Workers' Compensation Coordinator on behalf of our client, a healthcare organization seeking additional support for its growing patient coordination team. This role is responsible for guiding patients through the workers' compensation process while ensuring accurate documentation, timely communication, and compliance with required procedures.
Job DescriptionThe Workers' Compensation Coordinator acts as a central point of contact for patients, insurers, and care teams involved in work-related injury cases. This position combines administrative coordination, insurance verification, and patient support to ensure a smooth and efficient experience from initial referral through treatment.
Key Responsibilities - Coordinate and secure necessary authorizations or referrals for workers' compensation-related care
- Gather complete claim details, including insurance carrier information, claim numbers, and key contact points such as adjusters and case managers
- Obtain prior medical records, imaging, and supporting documentation before patient appointments when applicable
- Assist in collecting information for motor vehicle accident or third-party liability cases as needed
- Partner with clinical teams to ensure seamless scheduling and care coordination
- Arrange interpreter or language services when required for patient visits
- Respond promptly to requests from adjusters, employers, and case managers regarding patient status or documentation
- Maintain compliance with privacy standards and protect patient information at all times
- Manage assigned work queues and ensure tasks are completed within expected timelines
- Escalate patient concerns or service issues to leadership as appropriate
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications - At least 1 year of experience working with workers' compensation cases (care coordination or intake-focused; not strictly A/R) required
- Familiarity with occupational health or similar environments is a strong plus
- Understanding of authorization and referral processes within healthcare required
- Experience communicating with patients, case managers, adjusters, and clinical teams required
- Ability to handle a fast-paced workload while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Comfortable navigating electronic health record systems (Cerner experience preferred)
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a remote setting
