Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Commercial Lines Account Manager to join a growing team. You will be the primary day-to-day service contact and trusted advisor for a dedicated book of commercial accounts, to deliver service and risk management solutions to clients in the Accounting, Architecture & Engineering, Environmental Services, Law, and Technology sectors. This is an ideal role for an Account Manager who thrives on managing complex, professional-level risks and who values a collaborative, flexible work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Management: Serve as the main point of contact for an assigned book of specialized commercial accounts, maintaining a high level of client satisfaction and retention through proactive communication and superior service.
  • Renewal & Marketing: Manage the entire renewal process, including gathering updated information, preparing comprehensive coverage specifications, marketing risks to appropriate carriers, negotiating terms, and presenting solutions to the client.
  • Risk Consultation: Act as a risk management resource for clients, leveraging PCIA's training offerings (webinars, podcast insights) to help clients understand and mitigate their unique exposures, particularly in Professional, Cyber, and Liability lines.
  • Policy & Documentation: Accurately process new policies, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations. Issue certificates of insurance, prepare summaries, and maintain meticulous client records within the agency management system.
  • Expertise: Utilize your technical knowledge across a broad range of commercial lines, including GL, Property, Auto, Umbrella, Workers' Comp, Professional Liability (E&O, D&O, EPLI), and Cyber.
  • Carrier Relations: Maintain strong working relationships with our industry-leading carriers to ensure the best coverage and pricing for our clients.

Qualifications & Experience

  • License: Active Property & Casualty (P&C) license is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Commercial Lines Account Manager within an independent agency setting.
  • Book of Business: Proven experience managing a diverse book of commercial accounts, including mid-to-large-sized clients. Experience with complex risks in Professional Service, Construction, Manufacturing, or Logistics is a strong advantage.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of complex commercial coverages and forms, including specialty lines like Cyber and Professional Liability.
  • Systems Proficiency: Experience with agency management systems is highly desirable (e.g., Epic, Applied Management System, AMS360, or Guidewire). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
  • Designations: Progress toward or completion of professional designations such as CIC, CPCU, or ARM is a significant plus.
  • Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. A client-first, proactive service mindset is essential.

Compensation and Benefits

Target Compensation: $85,000 - $115,000+ (Based on experience, designations, and expertise in complex accounts).

  • Highly Competitive Salary and Bonus Opportunities.
  • Fully Paid Health and Dental Insurance.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO).
  • Support for Continuing Education and Professional Development (e.g., CIC, CPCU, ARM).
  • Hybrid Work Model: Enjoy the collaborative environment three days a week and the flexibility of remote work on Thursdays and Fridays.
  • A welcoming, professional, and established work environment in Livingston County.
