Job description

Job Description

The Worker's Compensation Administrator manages all aspects of a workers' compensation file for multiple jurisdictions, including claims ranging from soft tissue to catastrophic injuries such as paralysis, amputations, and fatalities. This position leverages a network of professional resources including doctors, nurses, attorneys, and regulators to facilitate ArcBest's mission of restoring the lives of their injured employees. The Worker's Compensation Administrator has a reserve and settlement authority of $35,000 as determined after training and approval by upper management. This position must be able to adequately assert the reserve and settlement authority according to ArcBest's best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Review, examine, analyze, and investigate workers' compensation claims for compensability.

  • Adjust claims according to state specific statues and regulations.

  • Provide accurate mathematical calculations for claims financial exposure.

  • Communicate the workers' compensation benefits, process, and requirements to injured workers.

  • Establish claims reserves and adjust reserve throughout the claim for anticipated exposure.

  • Provide financial information regarding claims cost and employee status to different Company departments.

  • Prepare and issue mandated requirement for documents.

  • Coordinate medical treatment for injured workers.

  • Identify and pursue cases with subrogation potential.

  • Act as a liaison between the injured worker, legal counsel, and medical providers.

  • Review and interpret medical reports.

  • Attend hearings, trials, and claim reviews.

  • Process indemnity payments.

  • Approve changes related to workers' compensation claim file.

  • Manage litigation and negotiate settlements on a claim file.

  • Advise defense counsel and independent adjusters.

  • Demonstrate professional diplomacy during all interactions with injured workers, outside vendors, and team members.

  • Obtain appropriate licenses and certifications as required by assigned jurisdiction.

  • Direct investigations of serious accidents and injuries, as needed.

  • Answer after-hours calls.

  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

Requirements Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred

  • Experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
  • 3 years of experience with casualty and/or workers' compensation claims, preferred
Computer Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, preferred
Certifications:
  • Arkansas Adjuster License within 1 Year, required

Other Details Work Hours:
