Job Summary:

Serve as the first point of contact for students and families and provide counseling on all phases of the financial aid process. Act as a liaison with other departments on campus and externally as needed.

Essential Functions:

Assist students and families with navigating financial aid processes including:

  • Completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Providing verification of information reported on the FAFSA
  • Completing special circumstance requests and appeals
  • Understanding and complying with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) criteria
  • Navigating financial aid information and completing related tasks in MyAkron, Workday system
  • Providing general information related to student accounts and billing
  • Providing scholarship information
  • Overcoming barriers to receiving financial aid

Assist other units within the department as needed. Act as a liaison with other departments on campus and externally as needed.

Education:

Requires a high school diploma.

Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:

None.

Experience:

Requires a minimum of one year of experience in a professional setting with computer skills that utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Flexibility to fluidly navigate within a team-centered environment built to prioritize the most important challenges of the day and a willingness to request help when needed. Strong organizational and task management skills are required. Demonstrated experience with data integrity and accuracy is preferred and a general familiarity with collegiate financial aid is preferred.
