Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Lead Engineer to drive the delivery, support, and continuous enhancement of our Workday Compensation capabilities, including Core Compensation and Advanced Compensation. As a Lead Engineer, you'll serve as both a technical leader and people leader, providing day-to-day coaching, engineering oversight, and strategic direction for the Compensation product portfolio. You'll drive Workday configuration, feature delivery, annual compensation cycle readiness, production support, release management, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring a high-quality employee and manager experience.
The ideal candidate combines deep functional expertise in Workday Compensation with strong leadership skills, a product mindset, and a passion for delivering business value through technology. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, configuration, implementation, and ongoing optimization of Workday Core Compensation and Advanced Compensation, and related technology applications.
  • Partner with Digital Product Manager(s) and related Digital Product Teams to prioritize and deliver solutions that align with compensation programs, policies, and business objectives.
  • Provide technical input into product strategy, estimation, solution design, and delivery planning.
  • Ensure solutions are aligned with Workday best practices, security requirements, and enterprise standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to simplify processes, improve user experience, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Product Engineers responsible for Workday Compensation while fostering engineering best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex configuration challenges and platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate with platform consultants, engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Track and improve key operational, quality, and delivery metrics and overall product health.
  • Oversee testing activities, including functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Workday experience with demonstrated expertise in Core Compensation and/or Advanced Compensation, Enterprise Interface Builder, reporting, dashboards, and calculated fields.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of compensation administration, salary planning, incentive programs, and Total Rewards processes.
  • Experience gathering requirements, designing solutions, testing functionality, and supporting production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday certification in Compensation and/or Advanced Compensation
  • Experience supporting large-scale compensation planning cycles in a global enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Workday Extend, Orchestrate, or Workday AI capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or other modern product delivery methodologies.
  • Experience leveraging automation, AI-enabled solutions, or workflow optimization within HR technology platforms.

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is 100,000.00 - 170,500.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
