TITLE: Senior DevSecOps Engineer

LOCATION: Sterling, VA

CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Active TS/SCI with CI Poly

POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to help build, automate, and secure the next generation of mission-critical engineering environments supporting national security initiatives. In this role, you will drive the implementation of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native solutions, and automated testing capabilities that accelerate software delivery while ensuring reliability, security, and operational excellence. Working alongside engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and mission stakeholders, you will play a key role in modernizing complex enterprise systems and enabling the rapid deployment of critical capabilities to the warfighter. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong engineering rigor, and a passion for solving complex challenges through automation and innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and DevSecOps processes supporting enterprise engineering environments.
  • Develop and maintain automation, scripting, and system integrations using Python, PowerShell, Groovy, and related technologies.
  • Support cloud-based architectures, containerized platforms, and enterprise application deployments across secure environments.
  • Develop and execute automated testing, system validation, and quality assurance activities to ensure application reliability and performance.
  • Administer and maintain DevOps toolchains, infrastructure automation solutions, and supporting engineering platforms.
  • Troubleshoot complex system, application, and integration issues while performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support identity management, security compliance, and configuration management activities across enterprise environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and program stakeholders to plan and implement technical solutions and process improvements in a Scaled Agile Framework environment.
  • Participate in Program Increment and Sprint planning, to include t-shirt sizing, story point estimation, and dependency mapping.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, test procedures, implementation guides, and operational processes.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and stakeholders in both written and verbal formats.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance with CI Polygraph.
  • Must meet DoD 8140 requirements, including Security+ CE certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting DevSecOps, CI/CD, test automation, and systems integration activities within cloud-based enterprise environments.
  • Experience developing automation and integration solutions using Python, PowerShell, Groovy, REST APIs, and related technologies.
  • Experience supporting cloud architecture, containerized environments, and enterprise infrastructure utilizing AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Rancher, or similar technologies.
  • Experience implementing DevOps and infrastructure automation solutions utilizing GitLab, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Active Directory, LDAP, and related technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience performing system testing, validation, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, technical documentation, and Agile development activities.
  • Experience supporting API gateways, service catalogs, identity and access management (IdAM), and enterprise security requirements.
  • This position requires regular onsite attendance at our Sterling, VA facility. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the facility each workday and, when operational needs require, report to the facility within 60 minutes.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) infrastructure and engineering tools.
  • Experience optimizing cloud-hosted solutions and supporting cloud platforms including Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and IBM Cloud.
  • Experience implementing and integrating ServiceNow solutions.
  • Experience supporting monitoring, visualization, and observability platforms such as Grafana and Splunk.
  • Experience supporting virtualization technologies, application streaming, containerized environments, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience supporting API gateways, service catalogs, cross-domain solutions, and enterprise integration platforms.
  • Experience administering engineering and collaboration platforms including SharePoint, IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM), Teamwork Cloud, Cameo, and Tableau.
