Evaluation Period: Annual performance evaluations if the student works the entire academic year. If the student works one semester, the performance evaluation will be completed after that semester
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Be ON TIME and VISIBLY PRESENT in the weight room during the ENTIRE scheduled shift.
  • Greet individuals as they enter with a hello and smile. Have them sign in.
  • Enforce ALL rules and facility policies.
  • Responsible for monitoring the use of the facility for visitor health and safety.
  • Be proactive in maintaining, checking, AND CLEANING weight room area and equipment.
  • Ensure lifters remove and rack weights/bars when finished with a machine.* If the visitor fails to do so, it becomes attendants responsibility.
  • At the end of each shift, the attendant is to walk the floor and ensure all weights are returned to weight trees and that equipment is cleaned and in working order.
  • Report any problems to facilities coordinator.
  • Follow Emergency Medical Procedures in the event of an injury.

Attendant Guidelines:
  • Be on time & work entire shift.
  • Attendants responsibility to cover own shift if unable to work. The supervisor must be notified in advance with the date, scheduled shift time, and the name of the person covering the shift.
  • Failure to show for a scheduled shift will result in an occurrence. One occurrence=Warning. Two occurrences=Final Warning. A Third occurrence=Termination. Late arrival, early departure, or failure to meet responsibilities or guidelines will result in a half occurrence.
  • Claiming false hours is stealing and warrants an automatic termination.
  • Timesheet should be filled in properly at the beginning and end of each shift and left in binder. If your timesheet is not in the binder when due, you will not be paid.
  • Attendant must be wearing a Mount St Joseph shirt.
  • During the shift, the floor should be walked and a final walk at the end of the shift to rack loose weights, organize, and wipe down equipment.
  • Attendant may work out during shift ONLY if there are 1-2 visitors, When 3 or more visitors, attendant must be attentive at the check-in desk.
  • May work on school studies at desk, but remain alert to visitors (no headphones).
  • No profanity. On stereo or otherwise.
  • Maintain communication with supervisors.

  • The ability to communicate sensitively and tactfully, both orally and in writing, with individuals at all levels within the University
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 45lbs, bending, twisting, spotting lifters, racking weights.
