Position Summary

The Federal Work Study position is a part-time, student worker opportunity with National University. The students will provide general support and assistance to their selected department and will work on special projects as assigned and aligned with the student's stated interests and career goals. The Compensation Assistant - Federal Work Study will support a project to review, update, and standardize job descriptions across the university. This includes inputting data into the HRIS system. This role will partner closely with the Compensation Team, HRBPs, and business leaders to ensure job documentation is accurate, consistent, and aligned with organizational structure and compensation frameworks.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in collecting and organizing existing job descriptions.
  • Reviews job descriptions for consistency in format, language, and structure.
  • Helps update job descriptions to reflect current duties, responsibilities, and requirements.
  • Inputs job description information into the HRIS system.
  • Maintains job description database and tracking tools.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be a current National University student who has completed a current FAFSA.
  • Ability to work up to 20 hours per week with a varied schedule.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel) required.
  • Experience with HRIS systems is preferred.

Technical / Functional Skills:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated interest in Human Resources, Compensation, or Organizational Design principles and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintains accurate, consistent, and reliable data across systems and records.
  • Demonstrates foundational understanding of human resources policies, procedures, and applicable regulations and applies knowledge to support consistent practices.
