Purpose:
- The Student Administrative Associate supports the daily operations of the Department of Radio-Television-Film by providing front-office, administrative, and organizational support. This position serves as a key point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors while assisting with departmental communications, record-keeping, inventory management, event support, and office operations. The role helps ensure the department functions efficiently and that faculty, staff, and students receive timely and professional
assistance.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and respond to RTF Department and RTF Graduate email accounts
- Answer department phones and take messages as needed
- Assist with preparing payment and reimbursement documentation
- Support inventory tracking and annual inventory projects
- Maintain spreadsheets and departmental records
- Assist with data entry and document organization
- Organize digital files and maintain Box folders
- Keep office, reception, and common spaces clean and organized
- Monitor and restock office supplies
- Assist with departmental events and special projects as needed
- Provide general administrative and front-office support
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Current UT Austin student eligible for student employment (Work-Study
preferred) - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and
Outlook - Experience maintaining records, entering data, and working with
spreadsheets - Exceptional accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Dependable, professional, and punctual
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
- Able to work independently while exercising sound judgment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an office, administrative, reception, or customer-facing
role - Experience monitoring and responding to shared email inboxes
- Familiarity with Box, Microsoft Teams, or similar collaboration platforms
- Experience supporting events, meetings, or special projects
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills, and adaptability
- Ability to contribute effectively in a collaborative team environment
