Job description

Job Description
The Division of Education and Leadership (DEL) in the College of Arts and Sciences at Shenandoah University seeks a dynamic and dedicated individual to serve as Assistant Professor of Education Studies and Program Coordinator for all graduate initial teacher licensure programs (in-person and online, excluding special education). This is a full- time benefited faculty position located near SU's main campus in Winchester, VA.
Position Responsibilities
  • Active service in SU's Educator Preparation Provider (EPP).
  • Teach courses in Education Studies (face-to-face, hybrid, and online as scheduled).
  • Serve as Program Coordinator for all graduate initial teacher licensure programs in Education Studies (in-person and online), excluding special education.
  • Engage in collegial service at the program, division, college, and university levels (e.g., committees, program development, recruitment).
  • Maintain a focused scholarly agenda consistent with faculty research expectations.

Required Skills
Required Education, Experience, and Skills (REQUIRED)
  • Earned doctorate (EdD or PhD) in Educational Studies or a closely related field by the start date.
  • Demonstrated college-level teaching experience (in-person and/or online).
  • Experience with curriculum design, assessment, and continuous improvement in teacher education programs.
  • Ability to support and advise graduate students and willingness to learn and assume program coordination responsibilities for graduate initial teacher licensure programs (in- person and online), excluding special education.
  • Strong collaborative skills for working with P-12 school partners, faculty colleagues, and program staff.
