Job description

Federal Work Study - Fitness Center Worker
Harry Truman Campus - Athletics Department
City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.
The Federal Work Study Program (FWS) is a federally-funded financial aid program that provides subsidized part-time employment for eligible students in order to assist them with postsecondary financial needs. City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) complies with the Department of Education's regulations regarding the FWS program and allows students to benefit from this opportunity.
Available Positions:
Game Day Manager:
Under the supervision of the CCC Athletics Department, assists with staffing and recruitment of game day operations support roles. Coordinates and confirms gameday staff for each game (game day operations support, video production team, PA announcer, DJ, statistician, photographers, etc.) Produces gameday outlines and PA scripts for each of 10-12 home games.
Social Media Contact Creator:
Duties include developing a social media marketing plan, creating and posting new content, connecting with the community, and analyzing the success and performance of your social media marketing campaigns.
Scorekeeper:
A scorekeeper is responsible for keeping an accurate score at sporting events. Your job duties include keeping the scoreboard accurate during contests, keeping accurate statistics about the players, and working with game officials to ensure a fair contest.
Book Keeper:
A book keeper manages the statistics recorded during the game in real time. These include: points (team totals and individual player), fouls, and time outs. As the score book is the official record of the game, the book keeper has to be able to communicate effectively with the score keeper and officials to ensure everyone is on the same page with the game stats and information.
Timekeeper:
The timekeeper will be responsible for operating the time clock and showing the game score on a flip chart or electronic score clock. The timekeeper is recognized as a minor official for the game. Proper decorum will be used at all times and includes no outward signs of bias, no coaching and no disrespectful conduct to the on-court officials, players, coaches and spectators.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Applicants must be 16 years or older, have work permit consent, and eligible to work in the United States
  • Applicants must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit semester hours
  • Applicants must be pursuing an approved educational credential, degree, or certificate
  • Applicants must have and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (waived for first semester new students)
  • Applicants must be in "good standing" - no City Colleges of Chicago academic restrictions
  • Applicants must not be current Full or Part-time employees of the City Colleges of Chicago
  • All positions are "employment at-will"

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma required or actively pursuing a GED at the City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Knowledge of City Colleges of Chicago.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and in teams.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and databases needed.

Salary Range: $17.00 or $19.00/hr.
Offered rate will be determined based on whether assigned location is on campus or off campus.
