Job description

JOB TITLE: School Program, Adapted Physical Education Teacher, ESY

(July 6โ€“ August 14, 2026)

REPORTS TO: Principal

HOURS/STATUS:Full Time,

SALARY RANGE:$29.66 - $31.37

JOB SUMMARY

The Adapted Physical Education Teacher is responsible for providing physical education programming for students with varying abilities.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and implement a physical education program appropriate to the needs of all students.
  • Develop and follow an individual education plan for each student.
  • Assess the equipment and supplies needed to implement a quality program.
  • Manage equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly way through appropriate storage.
  • Submit orders for supplies and equipment to the Principal.
  • Assist and supervise student teachers and/or aides
  • Participate in all regularly scheduled parent conferences
  • Attend staff and inservice meetings as appropriate
  • Must be sensitive to the cultural diversity of others and facilitate trusting relationships and partnerships with board members, vendors, and coworkers.
  • Ability to differentiate and / or provide adapted physical education programming
  • Knowledge and instructional delivery in aquatics programming
  • Organize schoolwide events that promote health and wellness for our students
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Candidates for this position will have: the ability to demonstrate and provide examples of continuous personal development and improvement; a student focused attitude; Communication skills (verbal and written); Problem solving skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to lift, push, pull 50 lbs.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelorโ€™s degree and Initial Certification in Physical Education. Masterโ€™s degree and Permanent Certification in Physical Education with adapted Physical Education concentrations preferred. CPR/AED trained. Water safety instruction (WSI), lifeguard and certified pool operated (CPO) preferred.
