Job description

Overview: We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Buildings, Energy and Infrastructure (BEI) Business Unit as an Engineering Group Manager (Electrical PE) in our Nashville, TN office. The Electrical Engineering Group Manager leads and oversees the technical and design services for engineering projects as part of a multi-discipline project team and serves as the client interface for project matters, frequently interacting and working directly with clients. The Engineering Group Manager is responsible for business development by sourcing new clients and delivering responsive, high-quality service to all clients through operational excellence. The Engineering Group Manager is responsible for building, and leading their team through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development while also identifying and recruiting new team members. The Engineering Group Manager is responsible for allocating resources, assessing the current workforce, forecasting future workforce needs, and the timeliness, quality, and adherence to established budgets for the group's projects.
DURING YOUR WORK DAY, YOU WILL:
  • Acts as the client interface for project matters and frequently interacts and works directly with clients.
  • Leads and oversees the technical and design services for electrical engineering projects as part of a multi-discipline project team.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include managing, building, and leading their team through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development while also identifying and recruiting new regional team members such as managers, engineers, production staff and administrative staff.
  • Responsible for allocation of resources, manpower balancing/assignment to projects, and the timeliness, quality, and adherence to established budgets for the group's projects.
  • Conducts preliminary evaluations, prepares various reports, produces design drawings, prepares technical specifications, and prepares permit submittals for engineering projects.
  • Acts as a business developer by sourcing new clientele and delivering responsive, high-quality service to all clients through operational excellence.
  • Prepares proposals and presents project presentations to clients.
  • Collaborates with other departments to support the sale and delivery of McKim & Creed's company-wide services.
  • Stays current with local, state & federal design standards and regulations.
  • Balances multiple tasks on multiple projects.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • 8+ years professional experience required.
  • PE certification or ability to gain one quickly through reciprocity.
  • Experience in building power, lighting, telecom, and fire alarm systems is required.
