Job Summary: The Project Controls Manager, reporting to the Program Manager for a project, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects by overseeing various aspects of program management. The Project Controls Manager will establish program schedules, implement budget controls, ensure meticulous tracking of costs and quantities daily, plan, oversee subcontract coordination, and quality control. Additionally, they will contribute to the overall success of the project and maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Implement and maintain the project schedule, including resource loading, critical path analysis, and progress monitoring
  • Manage project budgets, track costs, and prepare forecasts (Estimate-To-Complete ETC and Estimate-At-Complete EAC)
  • Monitor and manage project risks, including the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risks and opportunities, regularly update schedules and control budgets on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Ensure accurate and timely project reporting to stakeholders (internal & external), including progress updates, cost reports, and risk registers
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure project objectives are achieved within scope, schedule, and budget constraints
  • Liaise with clients and other stakeholders to manage expectations and ensure alignment with project goals
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and procedures, including safety and security requirements
  • Manage daily contracts with the client, identifying potential Change Orders, and reporting findings to the Program Manager.
  • Calculate subcontractor costs for assigned work and compare them to control budgets, seeking approval from the Program Manager for any exceeded estimated costs.
  • Collaborate across organizational lines with peers to support cross-functional company value initiatives and common management goals.
  • Establish regular operational meetings for reporting and issue resolution, integrating activities with corporate teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Support estimating/scheduling by reviewing scope and providing local market knowledge related to design, permitting, and costs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive project plans, considering scope, budget, and resource requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or a related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in project controls, with a track record of successful project delivery
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, practices, and tools, including scheduling, cost control, risk management, and reporting
  • Experience in managing a team of project controls professionals
  • Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal skills, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in project management software and tools, including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Excel
  • Proven initiative/self-starter.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional and dynamic environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Demonstrated successful experience owning schedules and forecasts on large-scale projects.
  • Previous experience in a client-facing role.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Suite.
  • Strong working knowledge of Power BI and scheduling software is preferred.
