Intersect develops, constructs, and operates the most ambitious power and data center infrastructure in the country by co-locating industrial demand with dedicated gas and renewable power generation.

Intersect was acquired by Google in March 2026 and operates as an independent subsidiary. We are developing and constructing multiple gigawatts of energy and data center projects in the U.S., enabling more data center and generation capacity to come online faster. Weโ€™re on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet.

About This Role

As part of Intersectโ€™s Project Controls team, youโ€™ll help deliver the financial visibility and budget discipline needed to successfully execute utility-scale energy projects. Partnering closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams across Development, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, and Operations, youโ€™ll support critical construction-phase decision-making through accurate forecasting, reporting, and cost analysis.

This role plays a key part in ensuring project budgets remain aligned with business objectives while providing stakeholders with timely, actionable insights. Youโ€™ll contribute to multiple active projects simultaneously, helping drive accountability, financial accuracy, and operational excellence throughout the construction lifecycle.

Team Overview

This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersectโ€™s mission to accelerate the clean energy transition by providing the financial controls, forecasting, and reporting necessary to successfully develop and construct large-scale energy infrastructure projects. Working closely with stakeholders across Development, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Construction, and Operations, the Project Controls team helps ensure projects are delivered responsibly, efficiently, and with clear financial visibility. Team members gain exposure to complex, high-impact projects while developing expertise through collaboration, continuous improvement, and meaningful contributions to company growth.

What You'll Do

Drive Budget Management and Reporting

  • Manage budgets and monthly cost reporting for 6โ€“10 concurrent active construction projects.

  • Maintain detailed project cost tracking using Excel-based reporting tools and embedded macros.

  • Support monthly reporting cycles by providing accurate budget updates, cost analyses, and project performance metrics.

  • Ensure project stakeholders have timely and reliable financial information to support decision-making.

Deliver Accurate Forecasting and Cost Controls

  • Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts in collaboration with subject matter experts.

  • Prepare estimate-to-complete forecasts and identify potential budget variances.

  • Manage monthly contingency tracking and reporting activities.

  • Support proactive budget management by identifying risks, trends, and opportunities throughout project execution.

Support Contract and Invoice Management

  • Review contractor and vendor invoices to verify accuracy and appropriate cost category assignments.

  • Perform earned value reporting for major project contracts, including EPC, module, and battery suppliers.

  • Digitally maintain invoice, lien waiver, and supporting documentation files for project review and audit readiness.

  • Submit wire requests and support payment processing for construction-related invoices.

Enable Project Decision-Making

  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations and executive-ready reporting materials for Project Managers and leadership.

  • Conduct financial and budget analyses that support project strategy and decision-making.

  • Participate in weekly project meetings to provide budget updates and financial insights.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain alignment on project performance and financial objectives.

Improve Processes and Team Effectiveness

  • Develop and document standard operating procedures for project budget management processes.

  • Support training initiatives and knowledge sharing across the Project Controls team.

  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, and process consistency.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen project financial controls.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project cost controls, budgeting, or project financial management within the energy industry or on energy infrastructure projects.

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple project budgets simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Advanced to expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, data analysis, and macro-enabled workbooks.

  • Strong experience developing project cash flow forecasts, cost reports, and estimate-to-complete analyses.

  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, concise PowerPoint presentations and executive communications.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace tools and Slack.

  • Experience reviewing invoices, validating cost allocations, and supporting project payment processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within project financial data.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple active projects.

  • Collaborative communication style that enables effective partnership across technical, financial, and operational teams.

Total Compensation: $118,000 - $135,000 (total compensation includes base salary + bonus in USD)
