Job description

Position Summary

The Enterprise Data Architect (EDA) is responsible for defining, governing, and evolving the organization’s enterprise data architecture supporting retirement plan administration, participant services, plan sponsor operations, compliance, financial reporting, business intelligence, and artificial intelligence initiatives.

This role serves as the technical authority for enterprise data strategy across Slavic401k’s recordkeeping platforms and associated business applications. The EDA designs scalable, secure, extensible and governed data management solutions that integrate operational systems, Salesforce, payroll providers, financial institutions, and third-party partners into a modern Microsoft Azure data platform, including medallion data cleansing, enrichment and validation and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-ready data provisioning and management.

Partners closely with the CIO, CTO, Business Operations, Compliance, Information Security, Data Engineering, IT and business leaders to ensure trusted enterprise data supporting regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and strategic decision making.

Primary Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the CIO/CISO and CTO and designated staff, design and maintain the organization’s data strategy, architecture, models, standards, principles, governance policies and roadmap in alignment with the enterprise technology, security, and cloud strategies established by the CIO/CISO.

• Lead the design and governance of enterprise data models, data domains, and master data structures across retirement recordkeeping, participant, plan, financial, and operational data.

• Serve as the enterprise data architecture authority for core recordkeeping platforms, including FIS FRP, ensuring scalable data models, system integrations, data integrations, data quality, data synchronization, modernization from legacy systems and alignment with business objectives.

• Architect enterprise integrations among recordkeeping systems, Salesforce, Microsoft Azure, payroll providers, financial institutions, investment partners, and other internal and external platforms.

• Design and oversee cloud-based data solutions leveraging Microsoft Azure technologies, including data ingestion, transformation, storage, cataloging, lineage, meta data management, security, performance optimization, and disaster recovery.

• Partner with business and technology leaders to establish enterprise reporting, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities, including Power BI dashboards, executive reporting, operational metrics, and self-service analytics.

• Provide technical leadership for data governance practices, including data modeling, metadata, lineage, quality, and stewardship, in partnership with the CIO/CISO, Compliance, Information Security, and business data owners..

• Ensure data architectures support regulatory compliance, audit readiness, reporting requirements, record retention, and regulatory examinations related to retirement plan administration and financial services operations.

• Collaborate with Information Security and Compliance teams to establish and maintain data privacy, classification, protection, and security standards for sensitive and regulated information.

• Drive enterprise data modernization and AI readiness by developing trusted, governed, and scalable data foundations that support advanced analytics, automation, machine learning, Copilot, and other artificial intelligence initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

• 7+ years of enterprise data architecture experience.

• 3+ years supporting financial services or retirement services organizations.

• Experience with financial services and/or retirement plan recordkeeping platforms such as FIS FRP, Relius, or comparable systems.

• Experience designing enterprise cloud data architectures using Microsoft Azure.

• Experience integrating Salesforce with enterprise applications.

• Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling.

• Deep knowledge of enterprise data governance and metadata management.

• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong experience designing and governing enterprise cloud data architecture using Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Purview, and related data platform tools.

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Databricks preferred.

• Working knowledge of Salesforce architecture and integration, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Salesforce data models, APIs, and Customer 360 concepts.

• Advanced experience with Microsoft Power BI, including semantic models, Power Query, executive dashboards, key performance indicators, self-service reporting, and reporting governance.

• Strong understanding of enterprise data management practices, including data modeling, master data management, metadata management, data governance, data lineage, data quality, reference data, and information lifecycle management.

• Experience designing scalable data integrations using REST APIs, ETL/ELT processes, event-driven architecture, enterprise integration patterns, and data synchronization methods.

• Ability to translate complex business, operational, and reporting needs into secure, scalable, and governed data architecture solutions.

Success Measures

During the first 12–18 months, the Enterprise Data Architect will:

• Establish a governed enterprise data architecture supporting the FIS FRP implementation (TBD) and evolving ecosystem.

• Deliver a trusted Microsoft Power BI semantic layer that provides a single source of truth for executive, operational, financial, and regulatory reporting.

• Improve enterprise data quality, lineage, and stewardship through a formal governance program.

• Reduce reporting cycle times and eliminate redundant data extracts by standardizing enterprise data pipelines.

• Enable AI-ready data foundations for Microsoft Copilot, predictive analytics, participant engagement, and intelligent automation initiatives.

• Ensure enterprise data architecture supports regulatory compliance, cybersecurity, audit readiness, and scalable business growth while minimizing technical debt.

Work Environment & Expectations

Remote work within one of the eligible states listed above.

• Core working hours between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. ET, with flexibility around those hours.

• Participation in an on call rotation for critical patching or security issues.
