Claims Advocate

Job Description:

The Claims Advocate will act as backup adjuster to handle claims and attend meditations on vacant desks in claims units when needed.  Assist Quality Assurance team with file audits, employee training, process improvement, and other miscellaneous projects.  Define and maintain Best Practices, refining them as new case law, regulations or innovative approaches come to light.  Analyze claims for accuracy, completeness and eligibility, prepare and maintain reports and process payments.

The Claims Advocate will have responsibilities in these areas subject to standards of each team or client:

·         Coverage

·         Customer Service

·         Subrogation

·         Investigation

·         Litigation Management

·         Reserves

·         Reporting Requirements

·         Resolution

Qualification Requirements:

·         High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

·         Higher education preferred.

·         10+ years’ claims handling experience required.

·         Supervisory experience preferred.

·         Must possess a current Florida Adjusters license and required jurisdictional licensing.

·         Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.

·         Previous negotiation and litigation skills preferred, but not necessary.

·         Must be able to work independently and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·         Advanced knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software. (Microsoft Office platform.)

·         Requires ability to travel when necessary

·         Requires long periods of sitting

·         Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions

·         Requires lifting of files and boxes up to approximately 20 pounds

·         Repeated use of keyboard, mouse, and exposure to computer screen
