Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a talented Work Based Learning Coordinator to serve multiple school districts within the Education District.
Essential Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):
  • Instructs students and develops work experiences for students with disabilities
  • Present competencies as directed by Minnesota Department of Education
  • Maintains existing vocational opportunities while developing new community partnerships
  • Promotes student learning in self-awareness/advocacy, disability awareness, and transition services
  • Act as an essential team member of the transitions program by participating in team meetings, IEP meetings and overall positive team culture
  • Work with other staff members in implementing accommodations and modifications
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on students as required by law, policies, and administrative regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Licensure as a Special Education Teacher required
  • Licensure in Work Based Learning or enrolled in Work Based Learning program required
  • Experience working with transition age students preferred
  • Experience arranging community vocational opportunities preferred
  • Must be able to work in team decision-making situations
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication and consulting skills
  • Ability to use technology as a management and instruction tool
  • Valid driver's license

Travel Requirements:
  • Travel between member districts is required.

Working Conditions:
  • Office, lifting, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Salary Range:
  • $54,963 - $89,988 (based on education and experience). Full benefits package available.

Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides high-quality special education services to 12 school districts and three charter schools across five counties in southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona.
HVED operates two specialized Setting IV programs: SAIL (Students Achieving Integrated Learning), which serves students in grades K 12 with significant behavioral needs, and SPECTRUM (Specialized Programming, Education, Comprehensive Therapy, and Resources for Unique Minds), which supports students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Both programs are currently located in Winona, Minnesota.
