The purpose of this job is to provide short-term work experience that allows the work based learning student to observe and participate in a professional work environment.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in all required training
  • Completes assignments that provide a working view of the organization or department.
  • Performs a variety of assignments to gain work experience in the intern's field of study.
  • Follows established policies, procedures and protocols as well as federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Follows established procedures for ensuring assigned areas are safe.
  • Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times.
  • Works collaboratively with administration, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Attends work and arrives to work on time.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
  • Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, printing work orders, purchase requisitions, payment vouchers, billing statements, and other documents as required.
  • Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, sending/receiving faxes, or filing documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

NOTE: This position is a part-time no benefits position. The intern works under the direction of an assigned supervisor and work is closely monitored. Duration of the internship assignment may vary. There is no expectation of continued employment when the internship is completed. Internship may be terminated at any time by the Hamilton County Department of Education.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Education/Experience:
Enrollment in applicable work based learning opportunity within Hamilton County Schools.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to calculate decimals and percentages.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.

Compensation:
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
Minimum Salary - $15/hr
