Job description

Word Processor III

Bowhead seeks a Word Processor III to support a newly awarded contract in Dahlgren, VA. This contract will provide configuration management, logistics, mechanical and electrical engineering technician services, field service support, project management, drafting and design, technical writing, and acquisition services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Unmanned & Expeditionary Weapon Systems (H40) Division and Intelligent Automation (H60) Division.

Responsibilities

Job duties to include but are not limited to:

  • Listening and accurately transcribing notes and records into the computer for use, filing, and long-term storage.
  • Communicating with operational leadership as review and signature, or clarification, is needed.
  • Ensuring work and quality controls are completed within budget and implementing any cost saving measures.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or a passing score on the General Education Development (GED) exam AND five (5) years of general experience using word processing software applications, along with automated databases.
  • Experience in editing and formatting of technical documentation, ensuring it is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style to include proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
  • Experience coordinating with document authors in the drafting or technical documentation.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
