Job description

Position: Legal Assistant 1
Status: Part Time/No benefits
Posting Closes: Open Until Filled
JOB SUMMARY
Performs a variety of clerical and office administrative duties designed to expedite case preparation, and the legal services provided by the office of the Iron County Attorney.
Works under general supervision and direction of the Iron County Attorney and under direct supervision of the Office Manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of specialized training (specific to the legal secretary field), or four (4) years of progressively responsible legal related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements:
  • Must pass a BCI/NCIC background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain valid Utah Driver's License.
  • Must maintain compliance of Iron County Vehicle Policy - including maintaining an acceptable driving record.
  • Attend any required training seminars when needed and/or scheduled.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and maintain compliance of Iron County drug and alcohol policies and guidelines.

Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; criminal justice system; resources available to assist in preparation of legal documents. Skill in interpersonal communication and public relations; word processing and computer programs/systems. Ability to organize responsibilities; work unsupervised and accept responsibility for actions; learn and recommend new and improved procedures; maintain cooperative working relationships; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
