Job description

Founded over 35 years ago, First Quality is a familyโ€‘owned company that has grown into a group of manufacturers producing highโ€‘quality personal care and household products for large retailers and healthcare organizations. Responsibilities
  • Specify, design, and implement complex controls systems and software programming on production equipment and associated machinery.
  • Provide training and assist Controls Technicians in solving complex problems.
  • Observe OSHA and company safety rules; identify potential electrical hazards and take corrective action.
  • Lead and support internal Controls Technicians, Project and Process Engineers, Maintenance & Production personnel, OEMs, vendors, and contractors to design, install, interface, and start up new equipment and process controls.
  • Supervise, assign work, provide performance monitoring and reviews, and set daily priorities for Controls Technicians.
  • Specify DCSโ€™s, PLCโ€™s, HMIโ€™s, servo systems, motors, drives, sensors, vision sensors, and data collection & analysis software.
  • Evaluate electrical equipment, recommend best value, and make complex program modifications in DCSโ€™s, PLC logic, HMI programs, and servo controller logic.
  • Perform highโ€‘level troubleshooting, inโ€‘depth critical thinking, and utilize internal & external resources to solve electrical, mechanical, or process problems.
  • Coordinate machine data collection and archiving, interface production and lab equipment to the plant network, and maintain the data historian system.
  • Lead small capital projects and assist in project planning and forecasting as part of budgeting.
  • Develop safety procedures for installed machines, including Lockโ€‘Out / Tagโ€‘Out for operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Provide technical and operating training to production, warehouse, and other personnel as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical theory and principles of operation.
  • Proficiency in control programming software, AutoCAD for schematic drawings, and basic PC skills (email, word processing, spreadsheets, project management software).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and mathematical skills.
  • Deep knowledge of PLCโ€‘based hardware and software and advanced PLC programming skills.
  • Expertise in servo and HMI programming and multiโ€‘controller networking.
  • Leadership abilities and experience supervising technical staff.
  • Ability to work a 12โ€‘hour shift, which may include day, night, weekend, and/or holiday hours.
