The location in Nekoosa, (Wisconsin, United States), is seeking talent to fill the position of Manager, Wood Procurement. This job is full-time permanent.
Position Summary
The Manager of Fiber Procurement is responsible for leading all wood and fiber procurement activities for the Nekoosa Mill. The role ensures a reliable, sustainable, and cost-effective supply of pulpwood and wood chips to support mill production requirements while maintaining compliance with FSC, SFI, and PEFC certification standards. This position also provides leadership to the procurement team, develops supplier relationships, manages contracts, and supports Domtar's sustainability objectives.
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Develop and manage pulpwood and wood chip supply strategies to meet production, inventory, and cost targets.
  • Administer procurement contracts and supplier agreements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, landowners, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Ensure wood fiber quality specifications are consistently met.
  • Collaborate closely with Pulp and Power Operations and wood yard personnel to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Partner with Accounting to maintain accurate, auditable processes for settlements, inventory management, and financial reporting.
  • Lead procurement activities in compliance with FSC, SFI, and PEFC certification requirements.
  • Represent Domtar within forestry organizations and regulatory agencies to promote sustainable forestry practices and industry initiatives

Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will:
  • Possess post-secondary education in Forestry or a related field.
  • Have significant pulpwood and/or wood chip procurement experience.
  • Demonstrate proven leadership experience, managing teams and driving results.
  • Build strong working relationships with suppliers, contractors, government agencies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Be willing to travel overnight as required.
