Summary of Duties

Relocation Assistance available up to $15,000

Pay range: $49.34/hr - $74.08/hr plus $6.00/hr night shift differential

About the team:

  • Join a team where you will focus on two specialties within Women's and Children's; if you want to continue to grow your skills you can also cross-train in Labor, Post-partum, Pediatrics and NICU, without needing to re-apply or transfer departments
  • Integrate the TeamBirth initiative into daily practices, with patient focused huddles throughout all phases of care
  • Follow a comprehensive staffing plan shaped by staff input, including:
    • Dedicated second break RN available most shifts
    • Addition of a second flex/resource RN to support the majority of situations (e.g., triage labor RN, baby nurse RN)
    • Minimum staffing standards aligned with AWHONN and NANN guidelines
    • Enhanced break scheduling processes that support emergent situations and ensure timely nurse breaks
  • Partner with clinical education for support programs, including the nurse residency committee and real time education
  • Collaboratively work with providers and nursing staff to improve policies such as category two management and Pitocin management

About the Department:

  • We're a small community hospital with many of the resources available to big hospitals; specialized NICU providers on site, in unit, 24/7 to attend high risk deliveries and address emergencies as well as 24/7 OB Hospitalist Coverage and 24/7 CRNA
  • Ensure an outstanding patient experience in private rooms, where patients can labor, deliver, recover and be discharged all from the same room for their comfort
  • Our holistic approach includes welcoming doulas and midwives, participating in the Home Birth Transfer Partnership, supporting pain management alternatives and providing a jacuzzi tub in every room
  • Promote family-centered support through the addition of two Community Health Workers and an expanded lactation team which includes some evening and weekend coverage
  • Find fulfillment in serving Hillsboro and its surrounding communities, located in Oregon's most diverse county

The RN for Women's and Children's Center ensures the delivery of quality nursing care to patients throughout the Women's & Children's Center, including those who require cardiac monitoring, in accordance with age-related and individual needs, physician's orders, hospital policy, standards of care and nursing practice.  Responsible for the assessment of patient needs, planning nursing care based on those needs, and ensuring that the plan of care is implemented, documented and evaluated according to the nursing process. Demonstrates skill sets and competencies that are needed to accept a regular patient care assignment in a minimum of two areas within the Women's & Children's Center, including neonatal intensive care, pediatrics, labor and delivery, or post-partum. For those employees who have completed a specialty training program at Hillsboro Medical Center in either NICU or post-partum, these employees will be required to choose a second area/specialty within one year of program completion and apply for a residency or fellowship program in chosen second specialty. As needed by the hospital, the expectations of additional areas of assignment will be considered. Supervises care given by supportive staff including techs and CNA's.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Administers and documents medications/IV's fluids safely and accurately following hospital policy.
  • Provide developmental care.
  • Derives nursing goals from assessment data to identify expected patient outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, partner and health care team to develop individualized goals and plan of care.
  • Provide concise, pertinent report to health care team, physicians, and clinical managers.
Hiring Competencies

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Oregon
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
  • NRP required within six (6) months of hire
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. required withing six (6) months of hire
  • AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Intermediate, C-EFM, or documentation of equivalent CNE's within six (6) months of hire
  • For Labor and Delivery openings in the Women's and Children's Center to ensure appropriate skill mix, two (2) years of Labor and Delivery, Post-Partum, or high-risk antepartum experience required within the last 3 years.
