Assistant Warehouse Operations Manager
Chesapeake, VA
Full-Time | $65,000 - $76,890 per year

Givens is Driven to Deliverโ€”for both our customers and our employees. Since 1957, we have provided our customers with a single-source solution for warehousing, distribution, transportation, packing and crating, and air freight services. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an Assistant Warehouse Operations Manager to join our Chesapeake team.
This position works alongside the Operations Manager to help oversee daily warehouse operations, lead employees, improve productivity, and ensure outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced warehouse environment, developing employees, solving problems, and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the daily management of warehouse and distribution operations.
  • Help supervise, coach, train, and develop warehouse employees to meet productivity, quality, and safety goals.
  • Plan daily workloads and staffing to meet customer requirements and shipping deadlines.
  • Monitor operational performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement improvements when needed.
  • Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and process controls.
  • Utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP systems to manage inventory, workflow, and reporting.
  • Ensure customer orders are received, processed, and shipped accurately and on time.
  • Partner with transportation, customer service, inventory control, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Assist with customer communications and resolve operational issues in a timely manner.
  • Promote and enforce OSHA regulations, company policies, and safety procedures throughout the warehouse.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
  • Partner with Human Resources on recruiting, onboarding, employee training, scheduling, and staffing needs.
  • Maintain operational reports and analyze data to support business decisions.
  • Serve as the Operations Manager's backup when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience with leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience in a fast-paced warehouse, distribution center, or 3PL environment.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, shipping, receiving, and distribution.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, warehouse optimization, Lean principles, or automation projects is a plus.
  • Ability to lead by example and build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
